George Foreman, Legendary Boxer and Entrepreneur, Passes Away at 76

Legendary heavyweight champion and businessman George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76.

🥊 A Boxing Legend

George Foreman was a two-time heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist. His boxing career began in the late 1960s, and in 1973, he won the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Joe Frazier. However, his most famous fight came in 1974, when he faced Muhammad Ali in the iconic "Rumble in the Jungle." Foreman, who was undefeated at the time, lost to Ali in what became one of the most-watched boxing matches in history.

After retiring from boxing in 1977, Foreman underwent a dramatic transformation. Following a near-death experience, he became a born-again Christian and dedicated his life to preaching. However, financial struggles led him back to the ring in 1987 at the age of 38.

Many doubted his comeback, but in 1994, at the age of 45, Foreman shocked the world by reclaiming the heavyweight title, becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in history. He retired for good in 1999 with an impressive 76 wins and only 5 losses.

Beyond boxing, Foreman became a successful entrepreneur. In 1994, he launched the George Foreman Grill, which became a massive success, selling over 100 million units worldwide. His charismatic personality made him a beloved television figure, and he even starred in a sitcom titled George.

Foreman was known for his deep faith and strong family values. He had 12 children, including five sons, all named George Edward Foreman. He once explained, "If one of us goes up, we all go up together. If one goes down, we all go down together."

In his later years, Foreman remained active in media, even appearing on The Masked Singer in 2022. He also served as an executive producer for the 2023 biopic, Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.

George Foreman leaves behind a legacy as one of boxing’s greatest champions, a successful entrepreneur, and a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Mary Joan Martelly and 11 children.
